Curacao St. Michiels Bay
- St. Michielsbay, on the south coast of Curacao, five miles west of Willemstad, is an open bay, naturally protected from prevailing winds and sea.
- Pilot to be picked up at Bullenbay.
- In the bay, 650 feet off the coast in 130 feet water, is laid a Single Point Mooring Buoy with a certificate of Lloyd's Approval, which provides a good anchorage to vessels up to DWT 350.000 which, because of a defect, cannot enter another port of Curacao.In addition, this buoy offers an excellent mooring for underwater cleaning.
- Repairs or handling cargo can be carried out by way of barges. A landing jetty for barges is available. Vessels are moored with their stern to the buoy, and their bow anchors are heaved out to hold the foreship from the coast.
- Pilotage is compulsory.
Pilotage
For all ports compulsory for vessels over 50 grt. Service is rendered 24 hours a day on ordinary weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, with the exception of Fuikbay.
